WELCOME TO BURBANK TEMPLE EMANU EL!
Burbank Temple Emanu El has served Burbank and the eastern San Fernando Valley as a progressive-minded, egalitarian full-service synagogue, rooted in the tenets and traditions of American Conservative Judaism, since 1947. Our members include individuals and families with longstanding ties to the Burbank community as well as many who have moved here recently from other areas in Los Angeles and around the world.
We celebrate Shabbat every Friday night and Saturday morning with prayer services complemented by a group discussion of contemporary and historical topics in Jewish religion and civilization. These conversations then usually continue on in our spirited Onegs. Services are also held on all the Jewish holidays.
Our congregation offers a lively series of programs and events for members of all ages. BTEE’s award-winning preschool offers extraordinarily vibrant year-round full- and part-time sessions for children 2 to 5 years old, many of whom also attend the temple’s monthly Friday night Tot Shabbat services. Our religious school students enhance their Hebrew language learning and Bar and Bat Mitzvah preparation with a wide array of creative projects that deepen their community and religious identification. The Temple’s Social Action Committee strengthens our congregation’s ties to the greater Burbank, Valley and LA communities in which we live and creates opportunities for members to engage in tikkun olam (fixing the world). Popular events sponsored by our Sisterhood throughout the year include a runway fashion show and annual Woman of Valor award Shabbat. The rabbi’s thought-provoking weekday “Lunch’n’ Learn” adult education sessions are always well attended. And the Temple’s most recent annual gala honored our “Chai Five” members aged 90 and above, many of whom have been with the congregation since its inception.
Burbank Temple Emanu El is a growing congregation that encourages active member involvement and input in every aspect of our community’s path forward. We invite you to come see us in our beautiful sanctuary and bustling social hall and to join our own uniquely haimish mishpocha (happy family).
